Above all, Dr. Morici enjoys the breadth and diversity of the veterinary profession. Her professional interests include critical care, veterinary and public health policy, translational medicine and research, international veterinary affairs, telehealth, and the digitalization and innovation of the veterinary industry. Prior to joining Koala Health, she had gained first-hand clinical experience on 6 different continents.

Dr. Celia Friedman Cowan

Dr. Celia Friedman Cowan is a Consulting Veterinarian for Koala and also practices in Boston at a small animal general practice. Celia’s professional interests in the clinic include cardiology, preventive dentistry, and forming lasting relationships with clients and their pets.

At Koala, Celia enjoys watching the pharmacists learn how veterinary care is both so similar to and different from the world of human healthcare. She also appreciates teaching all members of the team the nuances of working in veterinary medicine. Some have spent time at the clinic where she works to be immersed in the environment to better understand the day-to-day operation of a veterinary clinic.

Celia grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire and currently resides in the Greater Boston area. Since she was young, she has spent lots of time in veterinary clinics and around animals despite her parents’ refusal to get a dog until she was in middle school! Celia attended the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She practiced in Madison, Wisconsin before moving back to New England to be closer to family.

In her spare time, Celia enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cockapoos, Mabel and Minnie. She loves spending time outside participating in activities like hiking, running, and skiing, but also relishes being inside to cook, play the flute, knit, read a book, or watch football (go Patriots!).

Dr. Sheena Haney

Dr. Sheena Haney is a Consulting Veterinarian for Koala. As an enthusiastic advocate for patient care and client communication, Dr. Haney focuses on improving access to veterinary care through telehealth and pet parent education.

Dr. Haney grew up in a small town in Southern Oregon and knew from a young age that she would become a veterinarian. Her home was never without dogs and guinea pigs, and outdoor adventures usually included trips to learn about local wildlife. She earned her veterinary degree in 2010 from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. After completing veterinary school, she moved to SE Idaho where she worked as a small animal veterinarian for 5 years. During this time, she enjoyed building relationships with her patients and their humans.

After the birth of her second child, she and her husband decided it was time to move their family back to their hometown in Southern Oregon. Since then, Dr. Haney has worked as a general practitioner, emergency veterinarian, and telehealth provider. Her professional interests include dentistry, wound management, and geriatric care. Dr. Haney is a Fear Free Certified Practitioner and a member of the AVMA and VVCA.

When not at the clinic, Dr. Haney enjoys brief moments of quiet reading, writing, and finding new ways to wear out her two young children and a three-legged Border Collie. She is excited to be part of the Koala team and looks forward to helping families take an active role in their pet’s healthcare.
