Koala was founded by a team that brings deep expertise in the online pharmaceutical and healthcare industry combined with their love of pets. Co-founders Gavin Cotter and Jordan Smith met as early team members at PillPack, where they developed a deep understanding of the challenges of managing multiple medications.

While deciding to launch Koala, they connected with Stephen Handel, formerly of Blink Health, who joined as the third founder. Fueled by their shared love of animals, and desire to make it easier for all pet parents to keep their pets healthy, the trio launched Koala Health in October 2021.
